I love to edit.\u00a0 I know strange.\u00a0 But I find myself doing it unconsciously all the time. In restaurants, in magazines, books, ads, promotional material, etc.\u00a0 I can’t help myself.\u00a0 What I don’t understand is why more people don’t do it, particularly when there, or more correctly, their livelihood depends on it.\u00a0 I cannot tell you how any restaurants I have been in with misspellings on their menus, on the specials, on the drinks menu. What the hell? Does no one proofread this stuff before its printed? No one at the printers, no one at the restaurant for approval? Lowers my expectation for the meal and the likelihood of my returning if that is the level of their attention to detail.<\/p>\n

he professional I meet when networking who hands me what appears to be a slick piece of literature, but it is riddled with poor grammar and misspellings. Yikes! You hand this out with a smile on you face? I understand if the company is providing you with crap, but that doesn’t mean you have to hand it out. But the please, please, please! Re-read your email’s before you send them out and make sure you are using the pepper word and the autocorrect hasn’t supplied a word that makes no sense. Oh, excuse me, pepper was meant to be proper. You see what I mean, Don’t you? As I have edited books, plays, blogs, articles, etc. I can tell you, spellcheck and autocorrect are not our fiends.
