Who Are Your Power Partners?

No one can do it all on their own.  Well, most people can’t do it all on their own.  So, it is important to identify who your power partners are, develop relationships with them so they can help you and you can help them build business together.  What exactly is a power partner?  A power partner is a person whose business naturally aligns with yours.  For example, Business coaches are good power partners for me, because often their clients need marketing, and likewise my clients often need business coaches to help them with certain aspects of their business. So we are able to refer clients to each other on a fairly regularly basis.  I have other power partners as well, and ideally you can acquire more than a few for your business.  The key is that you need to be able to give back to their business as well as receive from them.

To get started write out a list of who would be your ideal power partners and then set out to find them.  LinkedIn is a great place to find people who could potentially work well with your business and you with theirs. First go through your existing contacts and go through their contacts.  If you see anyone who could potentially be a good power partner for you reach out to your own overlooked contact or reach out and ask for an introduction from your contact.  Once you have made the connection and had a conversation, then you can make the decision about whether or not to pursue a mutually beneficially business relationship. Power Partners
At your next networking event really listen to what the people are saying about their businesses.  If you hear something that sounds like there may be potential for a power partner relationship, set up a coffee and explore the situation further.  After all, nothing ventured nothing gained.  If you are very lucky you may end up with maybe three good power partners that you feel comfortable referring your clients to and they in turn feel good about referring their clients to you.  Not all potential power partners are going to work out, it will take a bit of trail of error, but once you have secured a reliable group of partners the sky’s the limit.

With three solid power partners and your own efforts, you and your partners should have plenty of business you keep your pipelines full and your calendars busy. So get out there and find your power partners and get to work.
